PREPARATION FOR ORTHOPEDIC VISIT
1. Prepare necessary information:
A few days before the appointment, the doctor should receive from you the medical history of your pet (sent to the address klinika@zviropolis.pl), which should include details about: the course of the injury you are reporting (if it was recorded by another doctor), medications and supplements being taken, recent illnesses and injuries, test results, and past procedures.
2. Monitor symptoms:
While waiting for the appointment, pay attention to whether symptoms worsen or new ones appear. Information about any potential worsening of problems should be communicated to the doctor during the visit.
IMPORTANT! The alleviation of symptoms does not mean that the injury has disappeared. If pain-relieving medications have been administered, symptoms may have disappeared, but that does not mean the injury has healed. It is advisable to attend the appointment and consult with the doctor even if symptoms have subsided.
3. Prepare your pet for the visit:
Eating: Your pet should not eat for 8 hours before the appointment. This is related to the possibility of needing to extend the diagnostics to include imaging studies under sedation.
Water: Water can be left available up to 2 hours before the appointment, unless the doctor decides otherwise.
4. Arrival at the clinic:
If the animal shows aggression or travel is a very stressful experience, it’s worth asking about possible methods to alleviate stress and aggression. If a muzzle is necessary, it is best to apply it before the journey, but no later than before entering the clinic.
We recommend arriving 10 minutes early for registration and setting up a file (for new clients).
5. Post-visit instructions:
After the visit, you will receive recommendations regarding further procedures depending on what is affecting your pet. It is advisable to follow them as quickly as possible to avoid potential further complications related to the worsening of the injury.
